Bethlehem artist Marc Russell photography show at the Woodbury Public Library

Bethlehem artist and Arts Alliance of Woodbury President Marc Russell will show recent photographs at the Woodbury Public Library Gallery during the month of September.

The exhibit takes two directions in showcasing Mr. Russell’s photography. Landscape photographs made during visits to our National Parks are shown along with images created in the garden and the studio. Many of the photographs are made using 4x5 black and white film and printed by Mr.Russell in his darkroom and also featuring images from his Garlic and Mushroom series. Mr.Russell says, “Nature’s inspiration is boundless. Taking time to enjoy, examine and reflect often leads to new discoveries. His work comes from explorations while hiking and traveling as well as in the garden, where nature provides the colorful, varied and wonderful array of forms, patterns, shapes and textures.

Marc Russell holds an MFA degree from Brooklyn College with studies at the Art Students League, Brooklyn Museum, Pratt Institute and Maine Photo Workshops. Mr. Russell has been a New York City advertising, event and portrait photographer. He created a photography department at the Taft School and was an adjunct professor at Suffern Community College teaching Black and White photography and advanced studio techniques.

Marc Russell has exhibited work in group and solo shows including the Queens Museum, Mattatuck Museum, Five Points, Rockefeller Gallery, Hopper House, Rockland Center for the Arts, Renaissance Gallery, Olivet College, Soho Photo, Uma Gallery, Imaging Arts, Upstream Gallery, Suny Albany, Washington Art Association, Flanders, Blue Hill, Salmagundi Club, many art fairs and is in numerous personal collections.
