Next to Normal

"Next to Normal" is a rock musical with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt. The story centers around a mother, Diana Goodman, who struggles with bipolar disorder and the impact it has on her family. The musical addresses themes such as mental illness, grief, and the challenges of modern suburban life.

The narrative delves deep into Diana's attempts to balance her mental health with her family responsibilities, exploring the effects of her condition on her husband, Dan, and their children, Natalie and Gabe. The show is known for its powerful and emotional portrayal of these issues, offering a raw and honest look at the complexities of mental health and family dynamics.

"Next to Normal" premiered off-Broadway in 2008 before moving to Broadway in 2009. The winner of 3 Tony awards and the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, this critically acclaimed musical is not one to miss. Performances will be held April 25-27th at CT State Naugatuck Valley in the Ricci Playbox Theater.
