Passport to the World: A Global Language & Culture Night

Region 14 Public Schools will be partnering with the Woodbury Public Library to host Passport to the World: A Global Language & Culture Night where participants will be able to visit stations of countries with their “passports” to learn facts and enjoy various activities. Over nine countries will be featured, including: Brazil, England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Poland, Puerto Rico, and more! Learn Japanese origami, play Scopa, an Italian card game, craft a German wooden gingerbread heart, and make your own Greek worry beads. Hear about English tea blending and create colorful paper landmarks, such as a double decker bus. Experience a bilingual story time presented by the Nonnewaug High School students. Learn about free Library resources which can be accessed with your library card, such as Transparent Language and an online vocational test available through EPICs career.com, with a special visit from Karen Anderson-Fignon, the founder. Other student and parent resources from the schools will also be featured in the Library’s Gallery. All ages are welcome to participate, and there is no registration required. Drop in and join us for an evening of around the world fun, door prizes and refreshments!
